Don’t call it a comeback, it’s been here for years. Our native, shade-loving wildflower/weed is bustin’ out all over town after the rains.

Horseherb grows in yards all over Central Texas. It’s sorta evergreen, especially in protected areas or when a light layer of leaves is allowed to cover them in freezing weather, and has cute little yellow flowers year round. It can take traffic, shade, and mowing, but if left alone, stays less than a foot tall.
It goes dormant in summer and hard winters, but unlike most turfgrasses, pops back within hours of a rain. With a little selective weeding and a thoughtful appreciation for the beauty in every Texas season (even the extreme ones) horseherb is a beautiful and super low maintenance alternative to St. Augustine. Love it, don’t pull it.
